On a business trip to Lille, France<\/h2>\n

Positively surprised<\/span>\u00a0was I<\/span>, Business Travel Consultant Jeanine,\u00a0<\/span>When I was with my friend for a day in Lille.<\/span>\u00a0Initially\u00a0<\/span>Our final destination was Tours<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0where we have a\u00a0<\/span>weekend to<\/span>\u00a0family would\u00a0<\/span>go.<\/span>\u00a0Of course h<\/span>adden\u00a0<\/span>we\u00a0<\/span>just going by car to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Tours\u00a0<\/span>be able to travel, but I wanted to be able to\u00a0<\/span>experience what it is like to work with<\/span>\u00a0the\u00a0<\/span>TGV<\/span>\u00a0- the French high-speed train Train \u00e0 Grande Vites<\/span>s<\/span>e -<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to travel. And l<\/span>aat well\u00a0<\/span>exactly\u00a0<\/span>a direct TGV train\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0Lille to Tours\u00a0<\/span>go<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>In addition, I wanted to experience for myself what it is like to transfer from Lille\u00a0<\/span>Flandres<\/span>\u00a0to Lille Europe<\/span>, Lille's two train stations.<\/span>\u00a0So said, so done!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Lille or Lille<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

To most Dutch people, Lille is known by the French name Lille while Flemish people generally use the name Lille. The city's Latin name was Ad\u00a0<\/span>Insulam<\/span>, which means near an island. This was translated into French as\u00a0<\/span>l'isle<\/span>\u00a0which later became corrupted to Lille and in Old Dutch as\u00a0<\/span>Too<\/span>r\u00a0<\/span>IJ<\/span>sel which became corrupted to Lille. Both names have always been used side by side throughout history and are about the same age. Today, the name Lille is almost exclusively used in Flanders, mainly on road signs with the name Lille in brackets. Many Flemish people still use the name Lille<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0but this is likely to change in the long run. During your visit to the city, you will hardly encounter the name Lille.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The nice thing about Lille is that it is so nice and compact. You can easily discover everything on foot.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Especially the old center, Vieux Lille, is m<\/span>ij<\/span>\u00a0remembered. Beautiful buildings, cozy narrow streets and lots of cute boutique shops.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Anyway, you get your money's worth here<\/span>, if you like shopping<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>At the TGV<\/span>\u2013<\/span>station is located\u00a0<\/span>Euralille<\/span>, a large<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>modern, spacious,\u00a0<\/span>indoor shopping center.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Museums<\/span><\/b> <\/b>in Lille<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Lille is known for its wonderful museums. These can be found in all shapes and sizes in and around the city. Lille's most famous museum is probably the\u00a0<\/span>Palais<\/span>\u00a0des\u00a0<\/span>Beaux<\/span>-Arts. According to some sources, this museum has the second largest general art collection in France after the Louvre. The various museums in Lille regularly host major exhibitions and displays.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Drink time!<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Lille has lots of nice restaurants and terraces.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>We ourselves were surprised by the wide range of Belgian\u00a0<\/span>specialty beers<\/span>. Although France is known for its wines, you absolutely must taste beer in Lille. Lille and the surrounding area have several beers and delicious gins.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

        \n<\/span>So<\/span>as previously mentioned disposes of<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Lille\u00a0<\/span>about<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>two<\/span>\u00a0train stations<\/span>, Lille\u00a0<\/span>Flandres<\/span>\u00a0and Lille Europe,\u00a0<\/span>connected to each other<\/span>\u00a0its<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The distance between the\u00a0<\/span>two<\/span>\u00a0stations is about 500<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>eater<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0what<\/span>\u00a0about a 6-minute walk<\/span>\u00a0is<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The Eurostar, TGV and\u00a0<\/span>Thalys<\/span>\u00a0arrive at Lille Europe.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>The\u00a0<\/span>I<\/span>ntercity, regional trains and some\u00a0<\/span>TGV trains<\/span>\u00a0arriving in Lille\u00a0<\/span>Flandres<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>From Lille Europe, the Eurostar goes to London in just an hour and a half!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
