4 reasons why bleisure travel is a good idea!
Do you ever have time to spare during your business trip? Or do you sometimes think during a business trip: I would like to see more of this country than just the airport and the hotel? Then taking a leisure trip is the solution! Combining a business trip with leisure has become increasingly popular in recent years. This phenomenon is also called bleisure travel: "business + leisure". Consider taking an excursion when you have time to spare. Or even better: attach a weekend to the business trip and discover the destination! With the arguments below, your manager can no longer refuse your bleisure trip...
1: The ticket price is lower (read: cost savings!)
Generally with airline tickets, the longer the stay, the lower the ticket price. Especially for intercontinental tickets, this difference can amount to hundreds of euros and can be well worth considering. For a business trip within Europe, it often pays to travel back during the weekend, especially on Sundays. Ticket prices are often lower then because Sunday is not a popular travel day among business travelers and because airlines often offer lower fares on tickets that include a Saturday night in the stay.
2: You get to know your clients' culture better
If you deal a lot with clients from other countries, it often means that you have to deal with a different culture. What better way to master this culture than to experience it for yourself and immerse yourself in it completely? The better you know your client's culture, the better you can serve them. A win-win situation!
3: Bleisure travel reduces stress
Business travel can be a stressful activity, especially if you are visiting many destinations in a short period of time. The time difference also plays a role, which can cause jet lag and make business appointments at local times cost extra energy. When the opportunity is there to stay a little longer at your destination, this will give you extra rest: good for body and mind. Your organization also benefits from a rested employee who has enough energy to get everything out of his work.
4: Hotels capitalize on bleisure travel
Hotels have seen for years that bleisure is a trend among business travelers. It is therefore natural that more and more hotels are responding to this. Think of a hotel with a high-speed Internet connection, restaurant and a business center for the business part of your trip. But also at a good location in the city center, with a swimming pool, fitness center and a restaurant with a cozy bar or lounge to relax in the evening. Below we give you some global recommendations for hotels that cater to bleisure overnight stays:
